What is Home Banking?
This free 128-bit encryption secured Internet access service allows members to:
  • View account balances
  • View transaction history
  • View cleared check listing
  • Transfer funds transaction
  • Password change
  • Download transactions (Money, Quicken & Others)
  • Receive e-statements
Members must enroll by contacting the credit union. Once enrolled the member will log in through a link located on the SFCU website. Each member’s financial account data is protected by a unique password. This password can be changed at anytime by the member, once logged in to the home banking session. All transactions and or balance inquiries and view of account history are encrypted with 128-bit digital certificates utilizing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) from VeriSign©.

How does a digital certificates work? When you log on to the home banking site the page connection will be a secured connection, you will see that the URL will change from a “http:” to a secured “https:” indicating that your connection is on a secured encrypted site. The connection becomes a unique “session key” (like a code) to encrypt all communications with the site. The member’s browser encrypts the session key with the SFCU site’s public key so only the SFCU website can read the session key. Depending on the browser, the member may see a key icon becoming whole or a padlock closing, indicating that the session is secure. This action takes only seconds and requires no action by the member.

Other information members need to know about Home Banking Security
  • Members will be locked out if they attempt 3 times and have failed to log-on correctly using the correct member number, password and any other required information through the MFA (multi factor authentication) process. (This protects the members from anyone who might attempt to gain access to your account information) If you are locked out, you must contact the credit union. Only authorized credit union staff can reactivate your account from a locked out status. This will only be done once the credit union staff has been able to properly identify that you are who you say you are, either via phone or in person.
  • Members are automatically logged-off a secured session after 15 minutes of inactivity. The member must log-on again to re-establish a secure session. (We encourage members to always log out of the home banking session before you leave your computer for any length of time).
  • Full data protection through automated backup and recovery methods are utilized daily. All Internet data mechanisms utilize the latest secure technologies.
  • Web servers run NT operating systems, loaded and maintained with the latest recommended configurations and security protections and Firewall.
  • Other security methods are employed to insure data is secure and web servers are free from attack.
So why should a member use our Home Banking services? For one thing you can keep track of your account activity 24/7 365 days a year.
